During last night’s Intel keynote, Sanjay Jha of Motorola’s Mobility made a quick appearance to make some big waves. The announcement was made that a multi-year, multi-device strategic partnership between Motorola Mobility and Intel has been made.

It’s that time of year again, when hoards of geeks, gadget heads and technologists from all over the world make their annual January pilgrimage to the Nevada desert to attend the world’s most anticipated event in the electronics industry, the Consumer Electronics Show.
One of my predictions for this year as the next “hot” thing is “wearable technology”. Not only will we be seeing more smart watches, we’ll also be seeing many tools and devices designed to motivate, measure and promote healthy lifestyle and better living.
Enter the Striiv. At first glance, you could boil the Striiv to simply being a glorified pedometer. However, this pocket sized $99 consumer device is coined the “Walkathon in your pocket, “ every step you take counts towards a charitable contribution to a cause of your choice.

When asked, “What was the most important technology story of the year?” many thoughts ran through my mind. I immediately considered Steve Jobs’ passing, Egypt going offline, the Japan earthquake crippling technology manufacturing, and even ICANN giving out the last IPv4 addresses. For me, however, one of the most intriguing 2011 stories happened back in August with the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google. It was sudden and it caught the tech world off guard.
